July 16, 2007 - Contributed by Ms. Jeri Duronslet Autin:

"My name is Jeri Duronslet Austin.

I remember Melissa as a warm, loving, and friendly person who was very easy to talk to.  I met Melissa at Colton Jr. High in the early 1980’s.  I do not recall what classes we attended together, but I do remember even after all these years what a beautiful spirit she had.  I last saw Melissa at Beacon Light in New Orleans, well before Katrina, as I served on the Greeters Ministry.  As she walked towards the entrance for service that morning we both did a double take recognizing each other right away.  We were never the best of friends or home girls who talked on the phone, but we were excited to see each other nevertheless.  Melissa introduced me to her beautiful sons who were both courteous and very well mannered.  I remember saying to her, “I can’t believe you have two sons.  Where has the time gone? She flashed that forever beautiful smiled as almost to blush reminding me of her humble spirit, as she had always had back in Junior High School.  Melissa will be missed by many who had the gracious opportunity to cross her path in this lifetime.  I look forward to seeing her again on the other side greeting me with that wonderful smile.  I extend my condolences to her sons, immediate family and friends.

Thank you Tamika Franklin for sending me this email, for I am residing in Biloxi now and I would never had known about GOD taking our Sister, Friend, Classmate on home to be with HIM.

I live to die and I die to live again

to be with my LORD and SAVIOR

JESUS CHRIST"
